| The Victorian
Orchid Club Inc. was founded in 1923 and is the oldest orchid club in
Australia.
The aims of the Club are: to
promote an interest in growing, cultivation, hybridization, preservation
and history of orchids to all fellow enthusiasts, in an environment that
will develop friendships and the exchange of information within the orchid
growing community.
The Victorian Orchid Club
Inc. is a foundation member of the Australian Orchid Council Inc.
The Club meets on the fourth
Thursday of each month (except January) at St. Mary's Church Hall, 90
Bowen Street (cnr. Toorak Road), South Camberwell, commencing at
8.00pm. Visitors from local, interstate or overseas are extended a
warm welcome to attend. Guest speakers are invited to attend
meetings to give informative talks and/or slide presentations on all
aspects of growing orchids. Plants are benched at each meeting for
judging by the regional AOC Judging Panel and AOC Awards are issued if
applicable.
The Victorian Orchid Club
holds two shows per year, one in July (Winter Show) and the other in
September (Spring Show) where generally a large display of different
genera are shown.
