FRONT COVER: Schoenorchis juncifolia
An unusual pendulous orchid is a lead in to Peter Taylor's "Selected Species" topic for this issue. The superb photographs are by David Titmuss.

Peter Taylor's regular feature is always a wealth of information, and this month is no exception. The accompanying photograph is a full page blow up of the inflorescence, again the work of David Titmuss.

Our Tenth Year.
We look back on the events leading up to the appearance of our first issue in February 1989, and some of the contents of that first issue. There is also a letter of congratulations from the President of the American Orchid Society Inc., Marvin Gerber. The President of the Australian Orchid Council Inc. looks at the past and to the future.

The Cymbidium Page.
Julian Coker writes on the passing of Don Wimber and his work with colchicine treatment of cymbidiums.

16th World Orchid Conference.
Eleanor Holwerda of Vancouver gives an extensive run-down on Vancouver and what visitors can expect to see and do, before, during and after the Conference.

Computer Corner. Greg Allikas is guest writer this issue with details of his Orchid Photo Page, and Colin Hamilton looks at some interesting sites on the WWW and other matters.

Orchids Australia Internet Site.
Julian Coker looks at the development of the Orchids Australia's award winning site on the Internet and what that has meant for the magazine and the Australian Orchid Council Inc. Between May and October 1997, OA's site received three awards from the USA, Brazil and Australia.

Book Review: Slipper Orchids of Borneo.
Colin Hamilton reviews Phillip Cribb's latest publication and gives it the thumbs up for content, photography and price.

1997 National Cymbidium Show, Ararat.
Julian Coker gives us the good oil on this large and growing show held in Ararat annually.

Burnie Orchid Spectacular & Tasmanian Orchid Conference.
The Tasmanian Orchid Conference is held annually at various locations around Tasmania. Burnie was the site in 1997 and they are honing their skills towards hosting the 15th Australian Orchid Conference & Show in October 2000.

The Ira Butler and Bill Murdoch Trophies for 1997.
Ruth Rudkin, as Secretary of the Trophy Committee, announces the winners for last year. In addition there are stories from growers of some of the growers who had entries nominated.

AOC Award of Cultural Commendation.
The AOC Registrar General of Judges presents some recent awards for this category. Judges especially will find this of value.

Trends in AOC Judging.
AOC Vice-President Noel Grundon, gives us a run down on some Australian awards and compares them with clones of the same greux awarded under the AOS system. This is based on a lecture Noel delivered at the 14th AOC Conference in Brisbane last September. 6th Asia Pacific Orchid Conference approaches. Latest information on this major event to be held in Townsville in September 1998, hosted by the Townsville Orchid Society.

OSCOV Victorian Orchids of the Year.
Details of the choicest of their awards for the year 1997 are presented and award photographs. These were selected by a meeting of judges held in Frankston at the end of November.
