NATIVE AUSTRALIAN PLANTS (including Orchids) BANNED FROM EXPORT. Ian Lonne discovered by accident that some common native orchid species are now protected and need an individual permit to export from the Aust. Nature Conservation Authority - at a cost of $30 a time. They are not on the CITES list, so overseas nurseries can trade freely in them! This change has been in vogue since May 1995 but it seems ANCA forgot to tell anyone!!!

THE ORCHID SHOW. Janet OāBrien Vize, a local poet, captures the trials and tribulations of every orchid grower in preparing for an orchid show, in verse. Copyright is available for clubs at no cost.

AWARD OF HONOUR TO JACK WILKIE from the Australian Orchid Foundation. Jack has devoted a lifetime to orchids and in his heyday explored the Cape York - Iron Range, locating many new species.

CYMBIDIUMS THE FULL YEAR ROUND. Julian Cokerās regular feature this issue looks at the possibility of having Cymbidiums in bloom the full year, using the diverse range of species and interbreeding the different types. Good photos too.

AMERICAN ORCHID SOCIETY CELEBRATES. We have a report of the AOS celebration held in March in Miami and what a glittering affair it was.

EZI-GRO ORCHIDS CELEBRATES 10 YEARS. Kevin Butler began the firm near Perth, Western Australia, just 10 years ago. With the help of some anonymous friends we look back over the decade and Kevinās achievements and hopes for the future.

ORCHID COMPUTER CORNER. Orchid and computer enthusiast from Tasmania, Fleur Malcolm, gives some handy tips and orchid sites to visit on an Internet surf.

A VISIT TO A MOSS BOG. Rex Johnson reports on the open day at Austmoss in March, and tells how the moss is grown, harvested, and the new growth cycle. Austmoss has a unique site in Tasmania and now exports to Asia and the USA.

SELECTED SPECIES Aerides fastuosa. Regular writer Peter Taylor provides a fascinating story and photographs on this unusual species.

ORCHIDMANIA - THE AUSTRALIAN CHAPTER. Douglas Thompson of OrchidMania in San Francisco seems to have struck the heart of one Australian at least with his story last December, and it looks likely an Australian Chapter will be formed in the near future.

ORCHID SOCIETY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA. Jean Herbert writes of the forthcoming celebrations for the Golden Anniversary of OSWA in September 1996.

BOOK REVIEW - Orchid Photography. Colin Hamilton reviews this fascinating new book by Charles Marden Fitch published by the American Orchid Society. Worth every cent.

GHOSTS, GOBLINS AND DRAGONS. Roger Kramer gives us an update of his 1995 series, with some new species and natural hybrids. Once again excellent photography.

JAPAN GRAND PRIX INTERNATIONAL ORCHID FESTIVAL. Kevin Butler reports on this most lavish and huge orchid show. Again superb photography of individual orchids and displays.

ORCHIDS OF NEW CALEDONIA - AN INTRODUCTION. Jacky Begaud, President of the Society of New Caledonian Orchidlovers, gives a brief insight into some of the unusual orchids found on New Caledonia. This is an orchid rich island and has many species found only on the island, and in one case, only on one mountain! Spectacular photographs as well.

THE GENUS VANDA. Regular contributor, Jim Cootes, provides a review of the Vanda genus. It is a good selection and very well illustrated. In fact the cover of this monthās issue is Vanda denisoniana.
