2005

18th World Orchid Conference, Dijon, France.  2005 - 11th to 20th March. Venue: Le Palais des Congrès et Expositions de Dijon. To be staged in conjunction with "Florissimo", one of Europe's largest flower shows.

  2005 Tropical Queensland Orchid Council Conference & Show, Entertainment Centre, Mackay, 9th to 11th June.  Preliminary announcement now on line - Invitation to register interest.

  ORCHIDS 2005 - 5th New Zealand Orchid Conference & Show, Hamilton, NZ, 30 August - 4 September 2005.  Event incorporates the 'Weekend Gardener Flower and Garden Fantasia'. Details now on-line.  

  W.A. Orchid Spectacular to be held at the Fremantle Passenger Terminal in Fremantle WA, from 13 - 19 September, 2005.  Early bird registrations now open. Printable Registration form available here (PDF file).

2006

    17th Australian Orchid Conference & Show is scheduled to be held in Port Macquarie 17 to 23 July 2006. 

2007

    6th Australasian Native Orchid Conference and Show hosted by ANOS Kabi Group, Queensland.  Dates and location to be finalised.

2008

19th World Orchid Conference, Miami Beach, Florida, IUSA - February/March. Watch for development of their website.  Very preliminary information only at present.

Australian National Botanic Gardens
The ANBG includes one of the most important orchid identification and research groups in Australia.

Brazilian Orchids
Extensive orchid related site by Delfina de Araujo, of Rio de Janeiro, with lots of photos and information, in particular the orchids of Brazil. The site is bi-lingual, English and Portugeuse.

 

International Phalaenopsis Alliance, USA

A society specialising in this easy to grow genus, with their own colour journal issued quarterly.  Contains details of the Alliance's meetings in various regions and their regular Congress meetings.

A magnificent site featuring the orchids and other wildflowers of Western Australia.

New Orchids Homepage
A web site devoted to the dissemination of information on new species, especially Paphiopedilums, and new varieties. Very interesting photographs provided.

Not So Green Thumb
A computer/orchidists playground. An excellent site by Yoshi Nomura with tons of material including photographs of orchids, explanations of his photographic and scanning equipment, orchid calendars, orchid murals and orchid screensavers.  New selection of screensavers now available.

 

  Orchid Photography by Gary Yong Gee  NEW

Gary Yong Gee of Brisbane is acknowledged as one of the best orchid photographers in Australia, but that isn't all.  He also has a passion for orchid species.  Amongst other things, Gary's website has thumbnail photos of species orchids linked to articles he has written for the Orchid Species Society (The very first species orchid society in the world!) - so there is plenty of reading on some nifty orchids.  Gary is also an occasional contributor of articles to our magazine Orchids Australia.

Orchid Species Encyclopaedia
Jay Pfahl of Florida has gathered together am astonishing reference library of orchid species photographs. This is a labour of love for Jay and shows the extent that some orchid growers will go to so that their accumulated knowledge can be shared around the world. In turn photographers around the world have made photos available to him. As at 31 December 2003 there are over 4500 photos available covering 503 genera.

Papua New Guinea Orchid News
This site has to be an orchid surfer's paradise. Wolfgang Bandisch has assembled an extraordinary collection of information and superb photographs of the orchids of Papua New Guinea. Literally hundreds of PNG species are illustrated. Don't go here if you can't stay for more than a few minutes! The website presentation is one of the most beautiful I have seen and really captures the exotic feel of this orchid paradise.

There are a number of categories available from Surendju on this site, including orchids. Select your card, insert details of sender and recipient, and e-mail it. Very simple.

i-Cards
This site has some very interesting categories including superb orchid photos by Greg Allikas, USA (and AOS Awards photographer). There is a large choice of music categories and melodies under each which you can attach to your card, and lots of room to write to your recipient. Also check out the Peter Rabbit and other childhood characters, and the Nature/Wildlife. Easy to use and great stuff.

Pandora's Box
This is another marvellous site but lists a large number of quality sites for electronic greetings cards for every and any occasion. You select from a variety of styles of cards from animated, flowers, animals, cartoons and many, many more.
